Granville Island, DT Shopping, Swimming & Dinner!

Wow, what an awesome day!! Today was the first really warm and beautiful day in Vancouver so I headed over to Granville Island with Jas to pick up some fresh veggies and fruit. I missed the Trout Lake market as I didn't get up in time to make it out there. I forgotten how expensive the produce is at the market on Granville Island! I picked up a few items before we decided to head into downtown so I could look at the Louis Vuitton handbag that HonHon is going to buy for my birthday :) There were only 2 left in the LV boutique, I couldn't help myself, I had to charge it right there and then cos this one is not a displayed model and it was made in France!!! It's a nice casual over the body purse which is what I'm looking for and it will be good for traveling (once I start!) and it wasn't too expensive about $900 including taxes! Before purchasing the handbag, we had walked around downtown Robson street and went to Coach cos Jas got a Coach gift card for her birthday from her co-workers. She hadn't found anything in there and she was hoping she could find something this time but I ended up using her GC on a pair of cute Coach flats! What a great sale, 50% off and the total cost of the shoes? Only $70 and they didn't even look like Coach shoes. We decided after the shopping, it was time to call it a day and I still had to get home to meet Marlo cos she was going to help me with my front crawl. Once she arrived, we decided to swim first and then we would eat dinner since we'd burn off a lot of energy in the pool. Wow, she's an awesome tutor, she really helped me with my swimming and pointed out some things to me like relaxing my shoulder and blowing air out more evenly in the water. The next time we go swimming, we decided it would be very beneficial for Cece to come with us cos she could really help her out with her swimming. After our swimming, gosh were we surprised to be swimming for more than an hour, we decided it was time to head back upstairs for dinner. Dinner menu were sauteed fresh local veggies and steamed sable fish with a little bit of sea salt, black pepper and fresh lemon. Once we finished with dinner, we went off to rent a movie, Valentine's Day and pick up some bubble tea for dessert. We had a long night of chatting and she ended up staying the night since I didn't want her driving home at 3am!! When I woke up this morning, she had already left :( I was a bit saddened that we didn't get to say good bye but I knew she had to get back to her dog, Kanye and she had a date with Mr. D. It was an awesome night and I always have a great time with Marlo! She and I are so much alike it's crazy! She can even sense me when I'm thinking of her!!!

Louis Vuitton

Since I am giving up my dream handbag from the Epi line, I've decided I will look for something less expensive and yet still practical for traveling. I've decided on the Monogram Odeon GM (altho I really like the new Artsy MM or GM) priced at $1100 US as it's a practical bag with an easy and comfortable fit for travelling. The bag has 2 handles and a removable strap that can fit comfortably across your body, it's slim and long plus it's the canvas material which means it won't be too heavy when I fit all my essentials while touring the city of Taipei or Las Vegas! It costs way less than the Epi handbag and even tho I am not a huge fan of the monogram print, this isn't my every day handbag only my travelling bag. Besides, now that I think about it, I don't really want to carry a shoulder purse or my current Epi purse while touring a city cos I don't want anyone to snatch it and I don't want my purse to get dirty! I love my Epi purse and it's a great purse to carry around the city. I would love to use my pink Dior handbag this spring/summer but need to clean it first and it's long overdue for a cleaning, I didn't even get the chance to use it last year!! I love my Dior, it's an incredibly beautiful and soft handbag!

Odéon GM
Details:
A bag for the busy woman about town, the Odéon GM in Monogram canvas is a comfortable fit around the shoulder or across the body. Big enough to carry magazines and other items too.

Size: 13.8" x 14.5" x 3.5"

-Comfortable leather handles

Giving up my Louis Vuitton Handbag

I have been doing some serious thinking over the weekend and I've decided to give up my Louis Vuitton bag cos I want HonHon to use that money to pay off his BMO mastercard instead. I know that he would do whatever it takes to buy me something I want and I know he enjoys buying me these things to make me really happy but I'm going to be selfless and give up the bag. I don't really need another Louis Vuitton handbag in fact, I don't really need any more handbags! I do have a number of very beautiful handbags that I could use to travel with. HonHon was quite shocked when I mentioned this to him and he wanted to be sure that he was chatting with the right person! But it felt sooooo GREAT to pay off the HSBC Mastercard and I'd like him to do the same with his BMO. This CNY has inspired me to be more careful with my money and to start saving instead of spending it all. Even tho I do enjoy shopping and spending my money, there are other things in life that I could do with the money. Plus, he plans on buying my airplane ticket to Asia this October and he wants to go to Maldives next Spring, I think it would be a wonderful feeling if we could do it without worrying about our mounting credit card debts.

Louis Vuitton, Aritzia, Browns

Today at lunch, Jas and I headed over to Louis Vuitton cos I rec'd a call over the weekend that my handbag had arrived and they would hold it for me until I looked at it. I could not purchase the bag so I had to release the item back to the store stock :*( The handbag is MORE BEAUTIFUL in person and I was really sad that I had to hand it back to the SA. At first, the SA mentioned this would be a regular stocked item and I didn't think that sounded right cos LV only had 3 styles in this leather. But she reassured me that the next time HonHon was in town, I could most def order it. Before leaving the store, Jas wanted to walk around and thank goodness we did cos the SA checked with the manager and found out that THIS WAS LIMITED. It is part of the Spring collection and there is no guarantee that this bag will be available for order or in stock in a few months! UGH!!! It is so beautiful and if I didn't have to put Kay's braces (the hardware and installation) fee of $1200, I would have def charged it to my credit card!!! Sadly, I had to leave it behind and hope and pray that HonHon will either find it in Taipei or it will still be available for order the next time he is in Vancouver. I am sure that handbag will not last long at the boutique, it will probably sell within a matter of a week :( It's suppose to be MINE!!! Oh well, to cheer myself up and cos Jas wanted to go, we headed over to see if Aritzia had any good sales on the denim, we decided to hit the Aritzia on Robson street. We manage to find a great deal on William Rast denim, sale price $99 from $300 but unfortunately, they did not have my size and size 26 were 1 1/2 sizes too big! But the sales girl suggested I buy them cos they are such a great price plus they fit me really nicely and if I take them to a tailor, he could easily alter them to my size. At this price, that is a great idea! So I purchased them cos I have been wanting a pair of WR jeans for 3 years plus these ones looked awesome on me!! After Aritzia, we headed over to B2 shoes cos I found a pair of flat suede boots for $70 (half price) online but the online ordering system wasn't working (for a few days) so I wanted to see if B2 could bring them so I could take a look at them and to try them on. The SA found the boots I was looking for in their catalog and ordered them in for me since they never did carry these ones in the store. I should be expecting them next week, how exciting! I don't know why but I'm really getting into flat boots! I think cos it's winter and I am now starting to enjoy wearing boots!

Louis Vuitton Going Green

Today, I dropped by Louis Vuitton for a visit since I will probably not be able to buy another piece for a long time cos Kay's braces are going to cost me at least a couple of years worth of Louis's. My fave Louis Vuitton SA greeted me and while I was looking around, I mentioned that I might pick up another item before Xmas (maybe a small key chain?) and she told me that LV is going eco friendly by phasing out the nice sturdy brown boxes given with your purchase. Good news and bad news, I for one enjoy collecting those little brown boxes (can come in quite handy) and good news, I'm sure there will be less of those boxes in the waste yard cos I'm sure many customers (who buy a lot of Louis Vuittons) probably just throw them out! Must get another box before they are no longer available!

Taking away the mid week blues....

with shopping ... how else do you get rid of the blues? Hehehe...

After work, Kay and I headed over to Holt Renfrew's Louis Vuitton boutique cos I had a LV limited edition book called "Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture" on hold for me. This is a large format book that explores 80 collaborations with the likes of Takashi Murakami and Stephen Sprouse. It is def. a collector's item and something every Louis Vuitton fan should have. The book is priced at $130USD or $160CDN and I had a few HR gift cards so I only had to pay $20.29! Gosh, the book is HEAVY and we still had quite a bit more to do so we took turns carrying the bag with the heavy book. After HR, we headed over to H&M cos Kay wanted a boyfriend blazer which she found for only $39.95, I found a cute sparkly silver shrug for $24.95 and it's perfect for my silk Kenzie dress which I want to wear during the fall/winter but need a little something to make it more wearable in the cooler months. After H&M, we walked through Browns and I found the perfect blue silver (SW colour: bluebird) shoes, this colour I have been eyeing for the past couple months but HR did not have my size and I am not in love with the style. At Browns, the style is more mine and it's dressier than HR's style plus it's a bit less expensive than the ones at HR! I will try them on when I'm ready to make the purchase :) Still on the shoe theme, Kay and I headed over to Payless cos they were having BOGO (buy one, get one 1/2 off!) and Kay really needed to replace a pair of grey flats that I threw out cos they were completely wrecked! She got a pair of black flats with a button detail (very pretty) and a pair of pink summer sandals for only $8 cos they were half off! After Payless, we headed over to the Main Street Farmer's market cos we are getting close to the end before the Winter market starts, we picked up some more candy tomatoes, romaine lettuce, apples and had a snack of bison smokie and an elephant ear (?). It was nice spending some quality time with Kay and we got a lot done this evening!

eBay Addiction, HSG, Nite Market

Wow, what a great day! I received my Oliepops laptop bag, it is so pretty and fits my 17" perfectly and my Prada backpack which I have been eyeing to buy for some time. After work, I met Jas and we stopped by the Louis Vuitton boutique before meeting up with Ben for dinner cos I wanted to purchase my make up bag which I had on hold. I decided I do not want to spend $240 CDN for a hot pink Prada make up bag cos it only costs $170 at Holt Renfrew (altho the pink is no longer available) and to get one, I will need to order it thru Saks Fifth Avenue which will cost $50 more. I decided to forget the Prada and pick up a Damier Azur Mini Pochette Accessories priced at $250 instead cos I had a $50 gift card which means I paid a total of $230 which meas it's cheaper than the Prada! =) After LV, we headed over to Hamilton Street Grill with Ben to have a meal under $20. It's nice to see options for meals under $20 and we had a coupon for 1 dinner free so it ended up coming up to $20 each including dessert and tip. Once the food settled in, we decided to drive over to the Richmond nite market for dragon beard candy plus Ben and I hadn't done the nitemarket once this summer and it's our tradition to go and get dragon beard candy. I did pretty good and did not buy anything (esp junk) except for 2 Hello Kitty folders which are just too cute to pass up. An hour later and with the crowd becoming larger, we decided to call it a nite. It was a fun evening and good to catch up with Ben, we will do it again real soon (hopefully) on the next HSG special!

Happy Canada Day!

HAPPY CANADA DAY, EH!

Gosh, it is a beautiful Canada Day! The weather was amazing, it is super hot and there are tons of events happening all over town. Earlier this afternoon, Kay had her hip hop dance performance at Sunset Community Centre on Main Street. She and a few of her BFF's have been taking hip hop classes at the community centre for the past few months and their final dance was held at the centre in part of the Canada Day Festivities. My brother had planned to go if he could get up on time (he had a late nite of partying) and I was suppose to ring him up to see if he could make it out. He was also going to give me a ride since my car insurance is up and I didn't get the chance to renew it and when I did, I didn't realize I needed Air Care!! Before I called my brother, I received a call from Louis Vuitton in Holt Renfrew, Damier Canvas Geronimos pouch had arrived and would be held until tomorrow closing. I had put my name on the list for my brother cos he desperately wanted (and needed as he says...) this but this item sells quickly and is not readily available. I was quite surprised how quickly it came in and realized why it was a very bad idea for me to go with my brother to pick it up. A few new Fall items (and colours) had arrived and in limited quantities in the Vernis line. Last Decemeber, my handbag was stolen and with it one of my newest and fave items, a key and coin purse in the amarante colour. For fall, LV released 2 more new colours in the vernis line, one gray and this beautiful blue called bleu nuit. I had to have it. Only 2 arrived and I was holding onto the last one until the next shipment so I charged it as the one "little" lv item HonHon promised me. So pretty and I love the colour and already thinking about my next purchase in this colour! Beautiful Bleu Nuit (see my flickr account for photos!!). After shopping, we realized we had to get going cos Kay's performance was scheduled for 2.25pm and that meant we only had 20 minutes to get from downtown to Main / 52nd street! Lucky us, we found parking right on the side street of the centre (someone pulling out when we pulled in) and even though we were 5 minutes late, it seems all the performances were a bit behind and Kay's dance didn't start for another 10 minutes. OHMYGOSH, it was so hot standing out there with no covering!! There were a lot of people and a lot of things happening, a great big turn out. I got Kay and her posse on video (see below) and put it on YouTube which I'm sure she will not be too impressed with! But it's nice to be able to show HonHon what he is missing! Kay on video - PRICELESS. After the performance, Kay went with her friends for bubble tea while my brother opted for iced coffee at Starbucks. We headed home to chill out and admire our new Louis Vuitton pieces and after a bit, my brother headed out and I stayed home to relax since tomorrow is a work day! Gosh, I don't like stat holidays landing in the middle of the week!

SOLD!

I'm sad to see this go but it's brand new and I received a beautiful epi wallet from HonHon on V'day. It is such a shame to hold onto this wallet when I can sell it and make some money and let someone else enjoy this wallet. SOLD for $450.

Has arrived!

My Louis Vuitton Montaigne bag has arrived and it is so beautiful!! I love it!! I am so happy to get this gift and it's all thanks to my HonHon, he is the bestest! So excited to use my new handbag!

Happy Valentine's Day!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Ok, I do find this "holiday" a bit overrated and it's more commercial than any other holiday cos companies like Hallmark et la, convinces us that the more love = more money spent on us is HOW MUCH they truly care and love us. Really it is just another day but I do have to use, I do try to get another present out of this day from HonHon! But really, every day should be celebrated, non?

Today, we all woke up quite late in the day as we do when HonHon is back in town so we didn't get to do too much before our dinner plans. We spent the afternoon at home with Kay before we (HonHon and I) went downtown, dinner reservations at Aria at the Westin at 7pm. But before heading to dinner, we had plans to stop by Holt Renfrew (at PC - check out the Men's custom made suits) and Louis Vuitton for my v'day and b'day presents! It's hard to go shopping downtown on the weekends cos I work downtown and so on my weekends I don't want to be downtown! As I predicted, the Louis Vuitton store was extremely busy and so busy that the entrance from Georgia Street was closed, leaving only the hotel entrance to the boutique. There was a security guard allowing people in and out of the store and huge line ups at the cash desk. Luckily, we managed to sneak by and get into the store right away, I realized I wasn't going to get much help but luckily Hideko, my usual SA, saw us and greeted us but she was already busy with a handful of customers. She sent over another SA named David and he was actually quite helpful even though, the two items I was hoping to get were sold out in my colours. I didn't think there would be much left as Valentine's day is one of the busiest shopping days of the year esp in the LV boutique. David showed us a red Montaigne bag in the Epi line (the only one left in Vancouver) and even though I was very tempted to pick it up in the red, I asked if there were any black ones left, he said he had checked and only 2 left in Canada, both in Toronto, ON. We could order it and it would be here sometime next week but he told us to think about it. The red is nice but I really wanted the black one, I couldn't believe I had these items in my hands a few weeks before. But of course, if limited colours come in and you don't buy them right away, you lose out. The demand for other Louis Vuitton items meant there was no rush in producing the Montaigne bag so whatever they get is what they have until who knows when! We decided to walk around the boutique a bit more, left LV to "think" about buying the Montaigne in Toronto, headed over to the Gucci boutique to see what was available there, found nothing and headed back to LV. This time there were no problems getting back in as the boutique was closing in 30 minutes. We found David and gave him the go ahead on ordering the Montaigne from Toronto. As we waited for David to confirm the order, we walked over to the Epi line since HonHon said we could not leave LV empty handed and insisted I pick out a wallet. Cos I had wanted a pink or blue French Wallet in the Vernis line but none were available, I decided to look for a wallet in the Epi line cos another SA at the counter showed us a few pieces. It was a tough choice between a black Koala wallet or the Tresor wallet in black but I decided since I had already owned a Koala, I found the Tresor a bit more practical. David returned to confirm the order and it would arrive on Thursday of this upcoming week. I was ecstatic!! We high fived as he realized how happy I was to hear that I would be getting the bag and that I was picking up a matching wallet! (told him how my LV handbag and accessories were stolen last December) I can't wait to get the handbag, my HonHon is the BESTEST! He truly made my Valentine's day spectacular and we hadn't even started dinner yet. (Did I mention Louis Vuitton has raised the prices?!? I think it's a conspiracy, last month prices were down but it seems the mark ups always happen around this time of the year!!)

After Louis Vuitton, we stopped by Cupcakes on Thurlow Street to pick up our V'day dessert, yummy Valentine's cupcakes! Since it was too late to stop by Holt Renfrew, we decided to headed over to T&T to pick up some items for Kay before going for dinner at Aria. Once at Aria, I ordered from the Valentine's menu but HonHon decided to try the roast duck breast from polderside farms on an asiago & thyme risotto & candied apple jus and the appetizer was the tuna tower deconstructed: the “original” broken down to enjoy; ahi tuna, side stripe shrimp and avocado with a sesame vinaigrette. It was very delish and we both enjoyed our meals! Thank you HonHon for a wonderful and lovely Valentine's Day :) MUCH LOVE 2 U xoxo

First LV

Jas finally did it! She picked up her very first Louis Vuitton and I am so proud. For the last 10 years, she has been wanting to buy a handbag and every time we go into the boutique, she cannot justify spending that amount of money on a handbag. But she can drop a few hundred dollars on a Coach bag here and there and I always say, why don't you save the money and pick up a LV instead? But she never listened and now after all this time, she finally decide to do it. All those Coach bags in her closet are now going to sit there as she won't use them again and haven't done so in quite some time. At first, she wanted to pick up the LV Monogram bucket bag and I didn't like that particular style but the petite bag was way too small for her frame. I told her that the Damier Canvas was much better suited for her and she should consider investing in that print. The print is classic, not too flashy or screaming a designer bag and even though this style only had the petite bucket, I thought she should go for another style. I told her to take a look at the handbags on the LV website and then go into the store to take a look at the pieces in person. I suggested the Hampstead MM in the damier print, Rhoda owns this one and it's perfect sized with lots of rom for everyday use. She didn't love it on the website but I told her she needed to go in and look at it. Today at lunch, we met up at the LV boutique to look over the monogram bucket bag again (still don't like it), finally she decided to take my advice and looked at the Hampstead. Once she had it on her shoulder and stood in front of the mirror, she realized it was the perfect bag! She bought it and the total was a bit more than she wanted to pay but I convinced her this was an investment and she would get many years out of this handbag. I hope she loves it, loves it when she gets home and won't return the handbag.

Harrods

Thanks Jas for bringing back a limited edition Harrods shopping bag for me! I love it!

I haven't seen Jas since she's been back from London which is 2 weeks! Wow, I can't believe how fast time goes by!! We decided to meet up for dinner as it's Friday night and I like heading out for dinner on Fridays or ordering take out. We wanted to try the new Cactus Club at Bentall 5 but they do not take reservations and when I was there to put our name on the list, we would have to wait 1 hour before getting a table! That's crazy and not worth it!! It's freaking Cactus Club!!! We decided to head over to Joeys on Burrard instead and that was a good choice cos I really wanted to try the apple pie. Mmmm apple pie. After dinner, we headed over to Louis Vuitton boutique cos I told Jas there was a price drop in the luxury items and she wanted to take a look. It's like a sale! How can one resist picking up a most wanted item?? I know what I want..... Monogram Vernis Rosewood in the deep dark purple $890 (price dropped $50!!)

After Louis Vuitton, we headed over to MAC Cosmetics cos they were having a 15% discount on all the products for family and friends until Sunday. She picked up a new lipstick and although I could use some more makeup, I had already picked up my items on Thursday with Rhoda. After MAC, we walked over to PC to check out what was left from the Browns and Holt Renfrew's shoe sales, she picked up a really cute pair of flats (and comfy!) for under $200! I am thinking about buying a decent pair of flats... oh my goodness, I can't believe I'm breaking down and buying a pair of flats! But they will have to be nice flats, good ones not the cheap shoes. After shopping, we decided to call it a night as we were both pretty tired from the work week. It was so nice to finally catch up with Jas!

What A Week!

HonHon arrived on Friday, Feb. 8 and he brought back a ton of Hello Kitty goodies for me! All the HK items are so very cute and of course, I was spoiled yet again! Of all the items I received, my fave items are the bathrobe, the bathroom mats and the door curtain. His suitcase was super heavy but it wasn't all me! He also brought back some stuff that my mom had left behind in Hong Kong (jars of XO sauce) and my sister sent some cute outfits for Ari! He got a cute denim jacket and a cheongsam. We tried them on him and they are so cute! Need to get some photos of him in them :)

There was so much that we had done, I'm just gonna write all the highlights of the week:
  • Gifts, gifts and more gifts! Apple Classic iPod for me and 5 or 6 Wii games for Kay
  • Louis Vuitton - All in the Monogram Vernis line (my very fave!) in 3 different colours: Koala wallet in pomme d'amour (candy apple red), key and change holder with name plate in amarante (deep dark purple/black), and the agenda of course which I purchased earlier and oh yes, LV 2008 refills for my small agenda.
  • V-day dinner at West on Granville which was lovely. I love dining at West, it's my fave restaurant in Vancouver, worth every dollar! We only go once or twice a year and it's a time where I get to dress up and feel like royalty. I ordered the smoked sablefish and HonHon ordered the tenderloin, both dishes were incredible!
  • IKEA for mattress shopping, we finally found an inexpensive queen size bed for HonHon's condo in Burnaby and what a day we had putting the pine bed frame together, apparently, the screws and brackets were misplaced!
  • Trying out new restaurants and re-visiting old favorite ones! We must have eaten out every day at least once!
  • Home-cooking twice, once HonHon made us dinner and I made homemade pizza for him.
It was nice to spend some quality time with him and Kay. I took the week off and Kay was allowed to take Friday off (every Friday is half a day) as HonHon's flight was tonight. Can't believe he's left already, it's very quiet and empty. But in a couple of days, we'll be over it. Usually, he leaves on a Sunday but China Air switched the times around and HonHon does not like these times. But overall, it was a great visit and it was so nice to see him, hug him, kiss him and spend some long overdue quality time together as a family (even though he did a lot of sleeping as you can see in the photos! I guess cos he's on vacation or jetlagged?!?!). The only thing I really regret is that we made a verbal deal about Louis Vuitton. No more Louis Vuittons until my birthday in August .... of 2010!! Yikes!! But I still love him even though we made the almost impossible deal. Well there are other luxury items that I love! :) It was such a great visit and we sure do miss him tons.... gosh did I mention that it feels quiet and something is missing.....

Louis Vuitton

I made a trip to the Louis Vuitton store at Hotel Vancouver cos HonHon is going to buy me a new agenda! I love having an excuse to go into this store even though I don't really need an excuse but having one makes it all the better! He is taking my Medium Monogram Agenda which means he's going to buy me a new one and I've decided on the Small Agenda in the Vernis line (cos it's my fave. line!) in the Pomme D'Amour cos I love this red, it's one of the best reds LV has come out with. So excited, I'm going to get it next month! Yeah :)

SOLD!

Click to photo to enlarge.

I just shipped my Louis Vuitton Damier Portes-Cartes this morning. I didn't make as much as I wanted to because I am a newbie at this. This item is brand new and has never been used so a very good price for the lucky winner. I paid $150 + 13% taxes and he picked it up for a mere $120. Next up, my Louis Vuitton Monogram Medium Agenda and Pochette Wallet...... I am very happy with what I have and am not going to spend ridiculous amounts of money on a handbag anymore. I have exactly what I need minus the one piece that HonHon has to pick up for me! Hehehe...
