Day after Boxing Day

Metrotown was so crazy busy today and I didn't think it would be soooo busy the day after boxing day but who was I kidding? We went into the mall to look for a specific item for HonHon's father but couldn't find it at the The Source which is the place we thought we might have luck finding it. We didn't stay long in the mall cos the crowds were too crazy and insane. I would have liked to pick up a few things but I was getting a headache from the crowds so after wandering around a bit, we decided to leave and head over to London Drugs cos they were having a really great boxing day sale on electronics and I have been waiting for the Sony 7" digital frame to go on sale. LD had it marked down to $88.12 from $150 so I went over there to pick one up for myself but when I got there, I noticed that the photo frame did not have the clear photo LCD. I didn't like how the photo frame looked without it so I decided to pick up the 8" instead and for the price of $129.98 which is a great price cos Sony is selling it for $149 on sale. It is so beautiful and the extra inch is def worth it. I can't wait to use this!

Zojirushi Mini Breadmaker

I just ordered a Zojirushi bread maker from eBay! I have been eyeing this product for some time and trying to find the best price online. I finally found a great price on eBay, I love buying items off eBay almost always less expensive than purchasing it at a store! I can't wait to get this item, this machine is so awesome that not only does it make mini loaves of bread but it can make jam and pasta! It is a bit expensive for a bread machine but it's got some great reviews and it will pay itself off in a short time since we do enjoy eating bread, buns and pasta! Mmmm....fresh bread, I am so excited and can't wait!

Now I'm watching for the best price on a Zojirushi rice cooker.

Toshiba Laptop

This afternoon, I headed over to Richmond to pick up my new Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop (RT908C) cos we need an upgrade plus I got it at a really GOOD DEAL, $750 my price retail $1899. Our PC had been dead for about a week, my mom's IT guy took a look at it and said it needed a new power supply plus he fixed the noisy fan which is great. The part and labour total cost was $80. But I decided I wanted an upgrade cos my Acer netbook was not that useful for me. I had picked up an Acer netbook thinking it would do what I needed it for which is surfing and email but I realize that I need it my PC for more than that and I wanted a laptop to fit my PC needs. This Toshiba is perfect! Kay is now getting the netbook for surfing and messaging and the desktop is for photo editing, school work or research and music. I think we might need to replace the speakers though cos our speakers are no longer working. Those speakers are about 13 years old so they've lasted quite a long time! Can't wait to use my Toshiba laptop!!!

Blackberry

Ohmygosh, I want a BlackBerry and I cannot believe I am admitting to it. I know once I get one, it'll be like crack which is why they call it CrackBerry. Many of my friends and family own one and it would be nice to stay in touch with everyone so easily. I am just going to wait it out a bit more for the BlackBerry 8900 to drop in price cos right now and unlocked BB is about $500!! BB will be releasing a couple of new ones this year so hopefully, this will drop the 8900. See the specifications for this beauty right here.

Sony 7" Digital Frame

Tonite, I headed over to Superstore for my weekly run of items and groceries. This week in the weekly ad is a coupon for $25 gift card if you spend $250 or over. I can usually spend up to $150 or so and this week the Sony (DPFD72) 7" digital frame is $30 off making in on sale for $119.99 - that's a great price! I have been eyeing one of these for a long time so I figured why not buy the digital frame and what I normally pick up to see if I could make $250. Yep not a problem, I can't wait to plug it in and upload my photos!! So excited!!

LG TE365 Neon

I am looking into purchasing this LG TE365 Neon mobile phone but debating if I should renew our contract for another 2 years ($65) or if I should purchase the phone at $175. It is time to replace my mobile cos I don't really like it and I had to buy it cos my handbag was stolen with my cell in it! Now if I purchase this phone, I will def be changing my mobile plan with unlimited texting and mobile surfing! I will then be connected to Facebook and Twitter at all times! :)

Update: Rogers Wireless has this phone in PINK but it costs $25 more!! I love it in pink but debating if I should buy it for an extra $25.....

Saturday Shopping

What a day we had today! Rhoda and I decided to head over to Richmond to do some shopping but before that, we had to help out my brother cos he got his car towed the day before. We had to give him a ride to the towing company cos he woke up too late in the day and his friend could not pick him up. Gosh, the towing place was so far! All the way on the other side of Richmond and the tow guy was slow and a bit of an @ss so my brother was getting a bit pissed. But in the end, he got his car back and it actually started! After helping my brother out, we headed over to Lansdowne Centre cos I wanted to pick up a bagel slicer at Home Outfitters (yes I need one cos I almost sliced my hand the other day!) and Future Shop to check out the Acer Aspire in pink (of course!). Lucky for me, Rhoda found the last bagel slicer and only $3.99! It's just a small clear plastic container that holds your bagel and you use your knife (slots in the sides) to slice the bagel in half, perfect! After bagel slicer purchase, we headed over to FS to check out the Acer and it was as pretty as I thought it was plus, perfect for what I need it for and it can easily be carried in my purse. It was on sale for $399.99 and there were 3 left but we decided to head over to Aberdeen Centre first to pick up some stuff from Daiso and I could think about purchasing this item or not. It was so busy and the traffic was bumper to bumper, we decided to leave the car at Lansdowne and walk over to Aberdeen! It's not too far of a walk and only took us about 8 minutes! We realized it was the night before Chinese New Year Eve so everyone was out getting ready for the CNY. Once we arrived to Daiso, Rhoda picked up some stuff and then we decided to walk thru the centre cos there were tons of tables (like a sidewalk sale) with lots of Chinese New Year stuff. I ended up picking up some lucky red envelopes (for $1.00/pack) and a good luck paper for my desk at the office. I try to get one every year and my desk is decorated with a lot of personal items :) After our walk, I got a call from Vince cos he was at place setting up my cable and DVR. I decided to pick up the Acer before heading home and a notebook mouse by Logitech in PINK of course! It is so small and pretty and PINK. Before we got back to my place, we stopped by a Chinese restaurant to pick up some take out for dinner and when we arrived, Vince had finished setting up my TV and DVR. He didn't really know how to work this so hopefully, it's all hooked up correctly. After dinner, Vince and I decided to head over to Metrotown to watch Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. Rhoda decided to bail on the movie so it was just the two of us. I was afraid I really wouldn't understand the movie since I really hadn't watch the first two but apparently this is the prequel of the series. Perfect! The movie was quite interesting and it was def more mid evil than the first two (I've caught bits and pieces of the second one on TV). There was not a lot of special effects done in the movie which means it wasn't as gory as I thought it would be. After the movie, we both felt like some tea and dessert so we decided to stop off at this new asian dessert place that Rhoda introduced me to. It's super yummy and they have a lot of Hong Kony style desserts served with coconut milk, fresh fruit and sago. Super and oh so yummy! As we enjoyed our desserts, we chatted about his trip, his trippy dream and life without his wife (could be a reason why he's not sleeping too well) and general life topics, it's always nice to catch up with Vince - one on one. By 1:30 am, I was getting tired and we decided to call it a night. Overall, a very productive day and now I must get ready for CNY.

Long Day

What a long day and it didn't help that it rained all day long while running around trying to get things done! I finally picked up a new cellphone (Nokia 3500 in pink) to replace the one that got stolen and it's not the best looking phone but it does what it needs to do. After picking up and getting my mobile back online, we headed over to CT to pick up some new locks for the doors. My keys and my mom's keys were on the same key chain so I had to replace all the locks on the doors, what a pain! It took us 4 hours to replace one lock cos there was some confusion with the locks! After replacing the locks, I realized I have to replace everything and it's gonna take me weeks to get all my stuff together. I am so depressed and can't sleep or eat ... not good ...

(almost) Brand New!

Tonight, BQ returned and put together my PC. Thank goodness we got it back, Kay and I were getting a little bit edgy without the computer. I can't believe how fast and smooth it's running, almost like a brand new computer! BQ is the BESTEST! He did mention that we had A LOT of stuff and I should really consider moving it onto a backup! I guess I'll have to pick up the WD 640 GB hard drive sometime soon and cut / paste all my stuff in there so we can have more space on the computer. After he fixed out system, it turns out that we had an extra 22 GB of hard disk space! Wow!

MIA

It seems that my PC has some serious problems and my IT friend, BQ who has been so kind to come by and look at my PC on his own time, cannot seem to find the problems no matter what he does. He has taken it home to backup all my stuff and will reload the Windows XP back and hopefully, this will fix all the problems! A nice thing about reloading Windows is that it will now be clean and all bugs and stuff will be out. Plus I have been having some major issues with my PC esp. the last Windows update, every since then, my PC has been difficult. BQ is the BESTEST! I owe him a couple of lunches for sure cos I know this is very time consuming and he's doing a huge favour for me.

More shopping

I got my birthday/christmas present today! Sharp 32" LCD TV at Best Buy! It's very pretty and although I was shopping for a Sony, it was decided that the Sharp one is a much better LCD quality than the Sony 32". Can't wait to set it up and watch my DVDs on there. I am also considering HDTV because the high def is so much nicer than regular cable....

After picking up the TV, we headed over to IKEA to find a TV stand for my new TV. I was planning on ordering a custom TV stand from Shilo Living (where I purchased my cubed book case) but decided I did not want to spend over $300 on a basic TV stand. I bought one at IKEA for $99 and it's not the prettiest TV stand but it works. Plus the main attraction is the TV not the stand.

We headed over to Tropika for dinner because I had a coupon and it was dinner out night. Slightly disappointed and very expensive. Not very authentic, more Chinese than Singaporean or Malay, although we have always been aware of it but it was a bit of a surprise to see the final total on the bill even with my coupon discount! Dinner didn't stay in my tummy though, much too greasy for me! The yummiest dish on our table: Tropika Homestyle Chicken.

Canada Post Delivery

Yep, it finally came and OMG, it's HUGE! My neighbors were kind enough to hold the package for me since I was not home to sign for it. Lucky for me that they did! Because the box is huge and it would have been a huge hassle trying to get that box into my little VW Bug!
